Hepatitis A and B - vaccination
This is a private (paid for) service by our Pharmacist for one dose of combined hepatitis A and B vaccine. Standard TWINRIX dosing is 3 vaccine doses over a span of 6 months. You choose the date for the first dose. The second dose is 1 month after the first and the last dose is 6 months after the first. A 4-dose rapid schedule is also available for individuals aged 16 and over for travel purposes. The price for one dose is £50.
We provide a vaccine that protects you against both hepatitis A and B which provides protection for those at risk. Protection will last for 5 years for hepatitis B and 25 years for Hepatitis A.
Hepatitis A and B are generally recommended if you have occupational risks or are travelling to endemic regions.
Sharing needles, unprotected sex, unsterilised medical procedures, mother to baby transmission and sharing hygiene equipment increase your risk of hepatitis B. This is the same for hepatitis A though most infections occur due to unclean food or water.
We recommend 4 weeks before travel to receive your vaccines if you would like the accelerated course. Accelerated schedule is available to individuals 16 years & over. The vaccine for a normal schedule is available from 1 years old & over.
